Hello there! My name is Elizabet Oliveira and I am a designer who is also skilled in coding, I strive to create innovative and engaging web experiences.

I was born in Mozambique to a Mozambican mother and Portuguese father, and moved to Portugal when I was just two. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of calling Lisbon, Dublin, and Aveiro home—each city offering its own unique influence on both my personal growth and career journey.

My first encounter with computers was through a ZX Spectrum, an experience that ignited my passion for technology and ultimately shaped my approach to design. It’s no coincidence that this website is inspired by that early fascination with tech. It represents the intersection of my roots and my work today.

I began my career as a web developer, but soon realized that my true calling was in the visual side of the web. The dynamic world of interaction design, front-end technology, and animation captured my imagination, and I’ve been driven ever since to craft engaging, user-centered digital experiences that are as fun as they are functional.

I am passionate about open-source. In April 2018, my project React Kawaii won the "Fun Project of the Year" award at React Amsterdam!

Music was also a big part of my life. I was the first female solo Hip-Hop artist signing to a major label (Universal Music) in Portugal. My songs reached the top of MTV Portugal's charts, but I soon realized that I was not meant to be an artist. I found out that I'm much happier designing, coding, and speaking at conferences all around the world!

Today, I’m proud to work as a Lead Product Designer at Xata, where I channel my skills and creativity into developing innovative products. Beyond my professional work, I enjoy mentoring designers and developers and speaking at React conferences around the world. I’m passionate about fostering an open and supportive tech community and always happy to share advice or guidance.
